Author Notes: Sally Warner was born in New York City and spent the first part of her life growing up in Greenfield Hill, Connecticut, where her family lived for many years. She is Hattie Knowlton's great-granddaughter. She spends part of each year in upstate New York but lives most of the time in Altadena, California, where she writes novels for children
