Author Notes:PETER CHURCH  holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws from the University of London. The countries and peoples of South-East Asia have been his passion since childhood and he has spent almost all of his career involved with the region, first as an international lawyer and since 1991 as a corporate adviser in his capacity as one of the founders of Asean Focus Group (www.aseanfocus.com). He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia from the Australian Government in 1994 for his services for the promotion of Australian business in South-East Asia.
