Author Notes:	Katherine Ayres has been a lover of books since earliest childhood, when she began inventing stories before she could even write them down. She is the author of numerous books for children, including A LONG WAY, illustrated by Tricia Tusa. Of MATTHEW'S TRUCK, she says, "Once I heard this simple statement, 'Matthew sleeps with his truck,' my fingers itched to start a new book -- a daring journey of a boy and his truck, starring the truck, of course." Hideko Takahashi was born and raised in Japan. She illustrated In MY NEW YELLOW SHIRT by Eileen Spinelli and GOOD NIGHT, GOD BLESS by Susan Heyboer O'Keefe, among other titles. Of MATTHEW'S TRUCK, she says, "I enjoyed working on this book because two of my favorite things are in it -- children and animals. And it was fun to imagine what the world would look like if I were three inches tall."
