Author Notes: Carmela D'Amico began writing children's books when she was just five years old, while Steven D'Amico began his art career at age four by drawing dinosaurs and superheroes. Now all grown up with a child of their own, this husband-and-wife team have combined their considerable talents to create a series of bestselling picture books about a charming elephant named Ella. The D'Amicos had wanted to work together on a children's book project for years, even before they were married. "I was striving for something substantial enough to stand alone as a story, but would also serve to showcase Steven's talents," Carmela says. The idea of Ella the Elephant came to Carmela in a dream, and the couple developed the story from there. The D'Amicos live in Seattle, Washington, with their daughter, Olivia.
