Author Notes: Dr. Scott A. Ostrow is a high school Air Force JROTC teacher and retired military officer who started his military career as an enlisted Navy member shortly after graduating from Copiague High School (New York) in 1978. After serving in the Navy for more than seven years, Scott attended Air Force Officer Training School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in July 1986.

Scott has served as a Poseidon Missile Technician, Navy Recruiter, Air Force Missile Officer, Fighter Squadron Executive Officer, Recruiting Squadron Operations Officer, and Medical Service Corps Officer (as a Reservist), and he was also Chief of Recruiter Training, Chief of Health Professions Recruiting, and, Chief, Recruiting Operations and Training Division with Air Force Reserve Recruiting. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (management) from Baptist College at Charleston (now Charleston Southern University), a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University.

Scott retired from the Air Force in 2005 and has been teaching high school since then. He is married and has six children, two of whom are currently serving in the Air Force.
