Author Notes:David Dekok is a former investigative reporter for the Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where his two-part series on the then-unsolved Betsy Aardsma murder was published in December 2008. He grew up in Betsy Aardsma's hometown, Holland, Michigan, went to the same high school, and distinctly remembers reading the story of her murder in the local newspaper. He is also the author of Fire Underground and 'The Epidemic (both Globe Pequot Press). He lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and continues to work as a journalist. Visit him at DavidDekok.com.
