Author Notes: Kay Murray is deputy general counsel of the Open Society Foundations, where she advises colleagues on intellectual property, the First Amendment, and tax matters and negotiates contracts of all kinds. She was general counsel and assistant director of the Authors Guild from 1994 to 2005. She has also worked as in-house counsel at the Tribune Company. She lives in New York City.
Tad Crawford is an attorney and the author of numerous books for creative professionals, including Business and Legal Forms for Authors and Self-Publishers. His most recent book is the novel A Floating Life, and his stories and articles have appeared in such venues as Communication Arts, Confrontation, Guernica, The Nation, and Writer's Digest. He is the founder and publisher of Allworth Press and lives in New York City.
