After baseball, he had a number of business ventures, including publishing a magazine, The Player's Club, geared toward professional athletes. In 2009, his business practices were exposed in in the media. He filed for Bankruptcy. In 2012, he pleaded guilty in federal court to three felonies and was later sentenced to three years in prison, 500 hours of community service and ordered to pay restitution. After serving 6.5 months, he was released from prison in June 2013. He is the author of Nails: the Inside Story of an Amazin' Season (1987, with Marty Noble), and House of Nails: A Memoir of Life on the Edge (2016). (Bowker Author Biography) |
