Author Notes: Malcolm Lambert was formerly a professor of theology and medieval history at the University of Bristol. His previous books for the academic market include Christians and Pagans , Franciscan Poverty , Medieval Heresy , and The Cathars . God's Armies is his first book for a general audience.
