Summary: This is the story of Jack Ingram, one of the finest exemplars of the greatest generation. As an enlisted man in the navy, Jack got his baptism under fire at sea, on land, and in the air in the western and northern Pacific, and especially in the remote, barren Aleutian Islands. Though the Aleutian theater was not well known, Jack's exploits became legendary. He became a pioneer in the emerging field of aerography, predicting the weather for air and sea operations. A true maverick, Jack rose through the ranks from navy enlisted man to a temporary lieutenant line officer during WWII. Jack was tasked by Admiral Chester Nimitz to Keep them flying! Trying to get the bravest of men to ignore the abominable weather and fly into its icy jaws was a tough thing to do. It took an unusual leader to inspire the flyers to go up in some of the most inhospitable weather on the planet. Jack s great leadership traits sustained him and many others through many WWII trials. After the war Jack went hurricane hunting, flying directly into the eye of storms to chart their course, and then worked in top-secret intelligence for the NSA. As you read about Jack's life spent on the front lines of history, there are many valuable lessons to take away from the stories compiled here about leadership, hard work, perseverance, maintaining a positive attitude, and treating others with dignity. The greatest of these lessons is to have a clear moral vision, to always do the right thing when it comes to other people. He truly believed, and showed us by example, that when you take care of everyone else, you will be fine.
