Author Notes: Kara Hughes was born and raised in Ohio, and, having bounced between New York and Pennsylvania for awhile, now resides in Massachusetts with her husband and their two kids. She graduated with a BA from Harvard University and earned an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh. Her first book, Speaking III of the Dead: Jerks in New York History, was published in 2011 by Globe Pequot. She currently works for the College of the Holy Cross.
