Her father is a talented baker, her mother is a reporter for a renowned newspaper, and her boardinghouse mates include a jazz singer, cornet player, and painter. Claudie dreams of having a special talent all her own but struggles to find her calling. When an eviction notice threatens her beloved home, Claudie takes a risk to pursue an idea that just might turn things around. Author Notes: Brit Bennett graduated from Stanford University and later earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan. Her work is featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review, and Jezebel. She has won a Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers. Brit is one of the National Book Foundation's 2016 5 Under 35 honorees.
