Summary: Dr. W. F. Wagner of Hartleton, Union County, Pennsylvania, examined the files of the National Archives in Washington for pension application papers of Revolutionary War soldiers or their widows living in central Pennsylvania at the time of application. Dr. Wagner transcribed about five hundred of these applications. Dr. Wagner's transcripts have been abstracted here, his annotations deleted from the text but incorporated as footnotes where useful. The applications contain varying amounts of genealogical data. They also include a great deal of historical information on the activites of the applicants who served in various capacities either in the Continental Army or in the militia. -- summarized from the pages of the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine included with these abstracts.
