A few years ago, Dalio noticed a confluence of political and economic conditions he hadn't encountered before: huge debts and zero or near-zero interest rates that led to massive printing of money in the world's three major reserve currencies. Here Dalio brings readers along for his study of the major empires-- the Dutch, the British, and the American-- and puts into perspective the "big cycle" that has drives the successes and failures of all the world's major countries through history. -- adapted from jacket.
Author Notes:Ray Dalio is an American investor, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist. He began investing at age 12, when he bought shares of Northeast Airlines for $300 and tripled his investment. Dalio received a bachelor's degree in finance from Long Island University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. In 1975, he founded the Westport, Connecticut based investment management firm, Bridgewater Associates which in 2012 became the largest hedge fund in the world, as it is today, with over $160 billion in assets under management, as of October 2014.
