A couple of thousand or so doors to other parallel universes passed before Art slowed down and chose one this time to the left. In this parallel universe there was no MAP entrance. The house was more noticeably different in this place. Art could again walk freely around in the liquid universe and observe everything that was going on. If he wished to come back and enter into this reality, he could always bring a portable unit and create a door and enter. This time he went up to Sonny?s room. A tall lad was there working on a model airplane. Art moved around so he could see the young man?s features. This was his son. He could see him. He was more mature. He even had a few whiskers growing on his chin. Art watched for a long time in awe over what he saw. So there were defiantly parallel universes and multiple Art?s and Sonny?s doing their thing in their own little worlds unaware of any other alternatives. After admiring and enjoying his son for about twenty minutes, Art went down to the kitchen. There making his absolute, most favorite dish was his long, lost wife, Sandra. She looked wild and lovely. A thousand memories flooded into his mind. Here in this parallel universe she was alive and well. The murder had never happened. Were they still married? Art did not have long to wait. The traveler saw himself enter the home and go up to his lovely wife and give her a quick kiss. He made a few comments before passing into the living room. Art followed Art and yelled at him from inside of MAP. ?You idiot. Don?t you see what you have? Don?t just give that beautiful woman a little peck on the cheek, take her in your arms and hold her close forever.? The Art in the living room paused for a moment and looked all around as if someone had spoken to him from out of the mist. He must not have seen anything or anybody unusual though. After making sure he returned to the kitchen and took his lovely wife securely in his arms and gave her a very passionate kiss then fondled her a bit before letting her get back to her cooking. ?You always were quite the romantic, Arty. What do you want now? Whenever you give that to me you want something in return. What is it this time??? ?Nothing, nothing at all, Sweetheart. I just wanted you to know how much I love you and that I am the luckiest man on earth to have such a beautiful wife and a fantastic cook also if I say so myself. Art couldn?t take it anymore. He had to leave. It was too much to take in seeing his first love so vibrant, alive and well. His emotions were overpowering. He knew he could come and make an entrance to this universe and arrange for an accident to happen to that Art. He could be with her again. He had the ability to make an ?Absolute Choice,? here if he wished. He could go backward and forward in time, observing all the little details even down to the same clothes. He knew he could do it. But would it be murder? Before reentering the hall of doors, he passed by Kanna?s room. There was no little girl in this parallel universe. No sweet little mind reader. In this place she had never been. He decided to teleport over to Gem?s home and see if perchance she was in the same house. It took a little doing but soon he found himself at her front door. There was a light on inside so he tried to enter. The door was locked in the liquid universe but with a little mind manipulation, it opened and he entered. There was a Gem in this world. She was seated on a couch reading. There was some commotion going on in the next room so Art entered and saw a very nice looking guy working out on some portable exercise unit. He was about six foot tall and had blue eyes. His hair was blond. He also had bulging muscles. Gem had done well for herself here but had she continued her experimentation in the realm of advanced physics in this world? Before going to the room where the apparatus would be housed, Art paused in front of Gem. She had looked up and was peering out the window. He stole a quick kiss from her unsuspecting lips and exited. She didn?t even flinch. There was no device. So married life or life with Mr. Muscles had kept her from furthering her studies in this universe. Art returned to the hallway and gave himself the command to return to his own world. Soon he was there. The door was clearly marked. He entered and found himself back on the couch. Before reentering through the gray door he paused to think over what he had witnessed. Was there a way to place sensors in those various parallel universes to monitor events that were taking place? The Art of his last adventure had clearly heard the command he shouted. Perhaps there was a universe out there where Sonny would meet with death. If so, Art could perhaps intervene and pull him out of that universe, save his life and have a son again. Possibility after possibility passed through his mind as he lay on the couch. He had a clear view of the door and soon he saw his Gem coming in with the things she had picked up from the store. Thinking possibilities through He realized that he was not ready to trade his parallel universe for another just yet. There was too much potential, right in front of him. First off there was this beautiful lady heading toward him and soon to be his for as long as they wished. No, he would not trade yet but the possibilities? Yes, there were the possibilities, millions of them Excerpted from Absolute Choice: The Infinity Trilogy Book One by Donielle Ingersoll All rights reserved by the original copyright owners.
