She loved the illustrations in the books she read as a child, mostly books like 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' and 'Rumplestiltskin', and also others. She has always been a fan of telly, watching cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Sylvester and Tweetie Pie, Tasmanian Devil etc, and have an ongoing love for Ray Harryhausen films. She trained as a graphic designer in Leicester and Northampton, and in her first job as a junior designer her employer bought a small greeting card company and she immediately loved it, designed/illustrated entire ranges, art directed photography/freelance illustrators. She learned to scan sketches and draw/paint them up on a Mac, which is still her method of choice 20 years later She describes her work as quirky, whimsical, and contemporary, she also has a more traditional soft and cute characterstyle too. Her hobbies are baking and camping, and doing her two son's school projects for them. She loves all sorts of music, and her husband has a punk band called 'Limehouse Rats' that he thought she should mention.. Her favourite films are comedies, Trading Places, 3 Amigos, The Jerk, Withnail and I, Zoolander. She is also a big fan of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings

Pterry Redwing is a pen name for the creative team at Cottage Door Press. We use a name like this when we work together on a story. We choose a name that stands for red bird," which is our cheerful little mascot.

Cottage Door Press is an independent publisher of high-quality children's books. Our books are designed to spark curiosity in the littlest readers and fan the flames of lifelong learning. We understand children deserve our respect. That's why we always select artwork and stories that encourage caregivers to "read up" to their little ones--exploring interests together, learning together, and giving their young minds roomto grow.
We also believe in creating stories that reflect the boundless possibilities of all children. We hope to create books that inspire little ones to connect, encourage them to dream, give them cause to celebrate, and allow them to see themselves beautifully reflected in the stories they read.
To bring these beautiful stories to life, our diverse and talented staff collaborates with authors and illustrators from all backgrounds and nationalities. We have also partnered with multicultural brands and literacy organizations to make sure our books reflect and reach as many little ones as possible.
