Description
Summary:A warm and witty read-aloud about a moose named Norm and her misadventures in search of a friend. Ernestine Norman Moose (Norm for short) sets out to find a friend, but being enormous makes that surprisingly difficult. Norm's size causes chaos everywhere she goes. People shout, wave their arms, and declare, "That thing is ENORMOUS!" Norm is thrilled they know her name... but disappointed they don't want to be her friend. Just when she's ready to give up, Norm meets Bo, a calm and quiet cow who doesn't mind Norm's size--or her clumsiness. Together they discover that the best friendships often come in the most unexpected forms. A playful, heartwarming picture book about belonging, differences, and finding your herd.

Author Notes:

Heidi Stemple didn't want to be a writer when she grew up. In fact, after she graduated from college, she became a probation officer in Florida. It wasn't until she was 28 years old that she gave in and joined the family business, publishing her first short story in a book called Famous Writers and Their Kids Write Spooky Stories . The famous writer was her mom, author Jane Yolen. Since then, she has published almost 50 books and numerous short stories and poems, mostly for children.

Heidi lives and writes on a big old farm in Massachusetts that she shares with a dozen deer, a family of bears, three coyotes, two bobcats, a gray fox, tons of birds, and once, an enormous moose. Once a year she calls and counts owls for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count.
